"Homosexuality: Current Research Trends" was theme of tho convention program presented over the Labor Day week ond by the Mattachine Society of New York at the Hotel Commodore.

Featured on the program wore: "Possibilities for Improved Laws Covering Homosexuals" by Robert V. Sherwin, secretary of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex; "The Homosexual in a Crisis Situation" by Dr. Russell G. Leiter, psychologist, Portsmouth Receiving Hospital, Ohio; "Homosexual John Doe: Citizon, Consumer, Friend" by Leslie Winston of the Winston Book Service; "Review of Research During the Past 20 Years" by Isadore Rubin, assistant publisher of Sexology Magazine; "Recent Approaches to Homosexuality in Moral Theology" by Rev. William P. Zion; "Unconscious Homosexuality" by Dr. Benjamin Karpman, chief psychotherapist, St. Elizabeth's Hocpital, Washington, D.C.

"Areas for Further Research" was discussed by a panel including Joseph Aranow, attorney; Dr. Phyllis Daen, psychologist: Dr. Nathaniel S. Lehrman, psychiatrist; Donald E. J. MacNamara, president of the American Society of Criminology, and Rev. C. E. Egan, Jr. Moderator was Donald Webster Cory, author of "The Homosexual in America".

Among the many candidates running for supervisor in the San Francisco November elections is Jose J. Sarria who declared simply that he is concerned with "equality before the law." Rumor has it that he is the "homosexual's candidate," the ide being to tally by secret ballot the voting strength of this minority group in the city of San Francisco.
